In short
- MakerWizard sets only what signing in and the tools themselves need. There are no analytics, advertising or social media cookies.
- That is why you see no cookie banner: the law asks for consent only for storage that is not strictly necessary for what you asked for.
- Much of what is listed never leaves your device: it is your own work and settings, saved in your browser.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.
1What these are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser and receives back with each request. Local storage and session storage are places in your browser where a page can keep data; they are not sent to us automatically. Session storage is emptied when you close the tab.
2Everything we store in your browser
| Name | Kind | What it is for | Lasts | Needed for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Cookie | Keeps you signed in, or remembers a guest's work between pages. | 7 days, renewed while you use the app | Signing in, and the guest trial. |
| better-auth.two_factor, better-auth.trust_device | Cookie | Carries a sign-in through its second step, and remembers a device you chose to trust. | Minutes; 30 days for a trusted device | Two-step sign-in, only if you switched it on. |
| better-auth.oauth_state, better-auth-passkey | Cookie | A one-time value that protects a Google or passkey sign-in while it is in progress. | Minutes | Signing in with Google or a passkey. |
| sidebar_state | Cookie | Whether you left the side menu open or closed. | 7 days | Your own layout choice. |
| mw.editor.doc.v1 | Local storage | Autosave of the sheet you are working on in the editor. It stays on your device. | Until you clear it | Not losing your work on a reload. |
| mw.laser.profile.v1 | Local storage | The machine and material you picked. | Until you clear it | Settings that match your laser. |
| mw.laser.mine.v1 | Local storage | Your own tested power, speed and kerf numbers. | Until you clear it | Your numbers replacing ours. |
| makerwizard.names.state | Session storage | The list of names you typed, carried through sign-up. | Until the tab closes | Not retyping the list. |
| makerlab.svgprep.handoff | Session storage | A design on its way from the workspace to the editor. | One page load | “Open in the editor”. |
| makerlab.low-balance.dismissed | Session storage | That you closed the low-balance notice. | Until the tab closes | Not showing it again. |
On the live site, which uses a secure connection, the sign-in cookies carry the prefix __Secure- before their name. They are HTTP-only: scripts on the page cannot read them.
3Other companies
Pages of MakerWizard load nothing from advertising or analytics companies. Two moments take you to another company's own page, which sets its own cookies under its own policy: paying (Stripe's checkout) and signing in with Google, if you choose it. Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie when it needs to tell people from bots.
4Your control
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time. Clearing them signs you out and removes work saved only on your device: the sheet in the editor, your machine profile and your own tested numbers. Blocking cookies altogether means you cannot sign in; the free tools still work.
5If this ever changes
If we add anything that is not strictly necessary, such as visitor statistics, it will be listed here and switched on only after you agree. Questions: support@makerwizard.com. How we handle personal data in general is in the Privacy Policy.
