How do I make many personalised name keychains at once?

Put every name on one sheet instead of editing a file per order. Choose the blank once, paste the list of names, and let each name be fitted into its blank in the same font. Cut the outlines in red and engrave the names in black in a single job; a 300 × 200 mm sheet holds 24 keychains of 70 × 25 mm.

    One per line, or separated by commas or semicolons, straight from an order export.

    Script fonts are welded letter to letter so they engrave without gaps at the joins.

Questions makers ask

Why must text be converted to paths for a laser?

xTool Studio and LightBurn only engrave live text in fonts installed on that computer, and drop or replace it otherwise. Every name here is converted to outlines, so the file burns the same on any machine.

Why do script fonts engrave with gaps between letters?

In a script font the letters overlap, and a laser fill treats overlapping shapes as holes, leaving unburned slivers at every join. This tool welds the letters of each name into one shape before export, so the join engraves solid.

How many names fit, and how many are free?

Up to 200 names per design, laid out on as many sheets as they need. SVG and the listing mockup are free for up to 3 names. A longer list, or the LightBurn sheet, costs one export for the whole design in every format.

Can I paste names from Etsy or a spreadsheet?

Yes. Names can be separated by new lines, commas or semicolons; blank lines and extra spaces are removed, and each name is kept to 40 characters.

What files do I get?

An SVG in true millimetres with a red cut layer and a black engrave layer for xTool Studio and other software, a LightBurn .lbrn2 project with both layers set up, and a PNG mockup to use as a listing picture.

Will long names still fit the blank?

Yes. Each name is scaled to fit the text area of its blank. With uniform sizing on, every name uses the size of the longest one so the set looks consistent.
